Tina Liu, Ph.D.

Assistant Professor, Department of Neurology, GUMC

Dr. Liu is a cognitive neuroscientist specializing in visual cognition and brain plasticity. She runs the Visual Perception and Plasticity Lab at GUMC, which studies neuroplasticity in heathy and clinical populations across the lifespan.

Dr. Liu’s research uses a combination of techniques, including psychophysics, eye tracking, functional and structural MRI, transcranial direct current stimulation, and computational modeling. Her lab conducts well-controlled experiments with fine-grained measures, which is complemented by the use of online crowdsourcing and consortium big data. The overarching goal of her research is to reveal core principles of neuroplasticity and apply this knowledge to develop precise rehabilitation strategies tailored for patients with brain lesions.
